Artist Statement

I make small to large scale oil paintings of staged, saturated landscapes with nature, agricultural, architectural, and industrial imagery. In my practice, walking, observing and documenting are important steps in the process of planning my work. Through a collage of found images or my own, I create abstracted spaces that portray subtle narratives or contemplative observations on our changing landscapes. These changes are particularly recorded in relation to climate concerns, environmental initiatives, urban design and pollution. A few of the many questions I ask in my work are: how are we building on the landscape with the environment in mind? How are green spaces incorporated into new architecture? How are landscapes altered to make room for renewable energy and technology?
