Sylvia Trotter Ewens (she/her) is a Honduran-Canadian painter based in the unceded Indigenous lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation, Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, Canada. She received her DEC in Fine Arts at Dawson College (2014), followed by her BFA in Fine Arts: Majoring in Painting and Drawing at Concordia University (2018). She is currently pursuing a MFA degree at Concordia University (expected graduation: 2024). She is a recipient of the Shirley Reed Graduate Scholarship and Lillian Vineberg Graduate Award. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows at the SMCQ’s Série Hommage exhibition (2023), Art Mûr (2023), Jano Lapin Gallery (solo, 2023), Espace Sensible (2022), the Maison de la Culture Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Monkland (solo, 2022), AVE Gallery (solo, 2020) and ARTCH (2020). Her thesis show, ‘Taming Grief: The Banana Trees Stand Vigil in Your Resting Place’ will be presented at Warren G Flowers Art Gallery following her residency there over this coming Summer, 2024.

Sylvia Trotter Ewens (elle) est une peintre hondurienne-canadienne basée sur les terres autochtones non cédées de la nation Kanien'kehá:ka, Tiohtià:ke/Montréal, Canada. Elle a obtenu son DEC en beaux-arts au Collège Dawson (2014), suivi d'un baccalauréat en beaux-arts avec majeure en peinture et dessin à l'Université Concordia (2018). Elle poursuit actuellement une maîtrise en beaux-arts à l'Université Concordia (obtention du diplôme prévue : 2024). Elle est récipiendaire de la bourse d'études supérieures Shirley Reed et du prix d'études supérieures Lillian Vineberg. Son travail a été présenté dans des expositions collectives et solos à la SMCQ 'Exposition Série Hommage' (2023), Art Mûr (2023), Galerie Jano Lapin (solo, 2023), Espace Sensible (2022), la Maison de la Culture Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Monkland (solo , 2022), AVE Gallery (solo, 2020) et ARTCH (2020). Son exposition de thèse, « Taming Grief : The Banana Trees Stand Vigil in Your Resting Place » sera présentée à la Warren G Flowers Art Gallery après sa résidence au cours de l'été 2024 prochain.
